What is TargetCool?
TargetCool is a precision skin-cooling system. It rapidly chills a small, targeted area of skin within seconds, creating a temporary numbing effect that can reduce how much you feel during needle-based treatments. It is quick, needle-free and leaves nothing to recover from, which makes it especially helpful if you are nervous about injections.
We use TargetCool at our Coleraine and Derry/Londonderry clinics to make treatments such as dermal filler and skin boosters more comfortable. It is also the final stage of our exosomes treatment, where it is applied after microneedling to help calm the skin.

How TargetCool works
TargetCool delivers controlled cooling exactly where it is needed, so only the area being treated is chilled.

Consultation
We talk through the treatment you are having, how you feel about needles and your medical history, and agree whether TargetCool will help. Your consultation is complimentary.
Preparation
Your skin is cleansed and the treatment points are marked. Your practitioner explains what you will feel before any cooling begins.
Your treatment
Cooling is applied for a few seconds just before each injection point, or across the skin after microneedling in our exosomes treatment. It feels cold, then pleasantly numb.
Aftercare and results
Sensation returns to normal within minutes, and there is no downtime from the cooling itself. You simply follow the aftercare for the treatment you have had.

What does TargetCool feel like?
You will feel an intense cold for a few seconds, followed by a numb, tingling sensation. Many people find it makes injections more comfortable.
Is there any downtime?
None from the cooling itself. Sensation returns to normal within minutes, and you simply follow the aftercare for the treatment you have had.
Which treatments is TargetCool used with?

Can it help if I am nervous about needles?
It can. Many patients who feel anxious about injections find that knowing the area will be numbed makes the whole experience calmer. Please tell us at your consultation so we can take things at your pace.
How long does the numbing last?
The effect is short-lived, which is why cooling is applied just before each injection point rather than once at the start. Normal sensation returns within minutes.
Is there anyone who should not have TargetCool?
Cooling is not suitable for everyone. Please tell us if you have Raynaud’s, cold sensitivity or cold urticaria, poor circulation, or broken or infected skin in the area. We check your medical history at your consultation before any treatment.
Does TargetCool add time to my appointment?
Very little. Cooling takes seconds at each point, so there is no need to wait for numbing to take effect before your treatment begins.
